Zinc Coins
Are the following small, antique items worth anything? HELP!?
Zinc coins? Coins from 1943? Marilyn Monroe stamps?
Worth anything? If so, how much?
These items are worth something, but not alot.
The “zinc coins” you referred to are probably the same as the 1943 coins you mentioned. These would be known as “Steel cents” and were made from Zinc-coated Steel in the 1940′s when copper was an important commodity used for the war effort. They’re not terribly rare and “might” fetch you between $.25 cents and up to $12.50 per coin, depending upon their condition. The rare one of the lot is a 1943S Steel cent in it’s best condition. (The “S” means it came form the San Francisco mint and fewer of those were ever minted than the others.)
As for the Marylin Monroe stamps, they are popular but will only fetch you a few cents more than face-value, per stamp.
