its just that when you read about the guys that get it awarded its seems most of them died and the rest were borderline suicidal .and why do they keep on about this guy paddy mayne!

The reason that a lot of those who received the medal died is because it is awarded for outstanding courage and bravery. Many of those who received the award died carrying out these acts of bravery, which saved the lives of many others.
