Venezuela Bolivar

Why did Simon Bolivar go to Haiti to get money in 1815?
Was it to do with Venezuela gaining independence?
Thank You.
Simon Bolivar went to Haiti to gather forces so he could return to Venezuela.
In 1813, the Spaniards forced Bolivar to retreat from Venezuela to New Granada (now Columbia), who was also at war with Spain. He took command of a Columbian force, but lacked enough men and supplies. This defeat led Bolivar to flee to Jamaica, then Haiti. In Haiti he gather forces that landed back in Venezuela in 1816. He took Angosta, now Ciudad Bolivar. He became the dictator.
