College extracurricular question?
This upcoming year, I’m applying to a few stretch schools like UVA and UNC Chapel Hill. With a 3.6 UW (4.4 WE) and a 32 ACT. But I’m banking on unique extracurriculars to close the gap for an out of state applicant. I coach a kids basketball team, participate in National Honor Society, am Co-President of Habitat for Humanity, and am a fourth year member of FBLA. However, I have also run a vending business in my town since the age of 13 and have written a good college essay on the topic. I am wondering if this patricular extracurricular (in combination with all others) will be enough to be accepted to those schools or ones that could be more difficult.
Your extra-curricular activities are impressive, but you should call the college and ask to speak with an admissions officer. This is the only way you can get a credible response to your question.
