Spain Scarce
possible options for moving to Spain?
I’m British and currently live in London. I have just returned from a short teip to Barcelona and have fallen in love with the place. The arcitecture, the people, the culture… London is increasingly stressing me out! I’ve decided it might be a good idea to live in Spain – if at least for a year. Life’s too short to stay in one place forever!
I’ve done a little research and apparantly jobs in Spain are scarce for the non-spanish speaker. But i’ve been thinking of maybe doing a TEFL course. Is there much demand for English language teachers in Spain? Im going to try and learn Spanish also.
Bar jobs?

At least you seem to have your head screwed on with you being aware of the scarcity of jobs, and that TEFL ‘may’ be an option for you….
There is always a requirement for Native English speakers in Spain, if you are TEFL qualified all the better. The problem is threefold : A) There are a lot of people applying for such vacancies that become available B) This means that the pay is driven down and isn’t usually that great C) In a place like Barcelona, where the living costs can be quite high, your salary won’t go that far.
In many cases, the company that you choose to help you qualify for your TEFL certificate will be able to help you find work, but this may not always be in the location that you may set your heart on.
