Spain Potosi
What country does my surname come from?

Ok, I’m only asking this question just out of curiosity, but where does the surname Dimas originate from. I’m full blooded Mexican and proud of it, but l would like to know where does my mom’s maiden name originate from. she’s light skinned to a point where she could pass for an Italian woman if you ever saw her. Anyway, she tells me that my great grand father was light skinned with blue eyes and a red beard. And that most of my family who live in the tiny farm villages throughout San luis Potosi are also light skinned like him. I asked if she knew where he came from like Spain or any othe rpart of the world. She says the only thing she remembers is her maiden name Dimas isn’t a hispanic name, so she says. So I was just wondering if anyone who has their last name as Dimas tell me where it’s from, ive been trying to search but found no answers. The only thing I’ve been told is that it sounds greek but i don’t know, anyone has a clue as to the origin?
