Oppression and few human rights are quandaries that too many countries in today’s world still face, sadly. If you’re aiming to get tourist visas and travel, though, there are third-world countries like Vietnam that are doing better than the others, and which are definitely worth a look.
A convergence of factors has made Vietnam a better place to live than many of its developing peers. Vietnam’s communist party, interestingly enough, has been lately supportive of a capitalist economic direction. At the communist party congress in 1986, a wing of communists that desired reform voted in new leaders, leading to the economic alteration. Since then, there has been noticeable stratification of income throughout the populace, and although still possessing a non-democratic government, the state has become more free market-based.
As another bright spot, extreme poverty is less rampant than that in a number of other developing nations like China and India, in part because of the reforms of some time ago. Although not all freedoms are yet assured, the fact that the military’s role has declined over time is a promising sign that greater liberties may soon be enjoyed by the people.
Vietnam also has abundant natural resources and a fairly varied economy. A sustainable logging and healthy fishing industry are a byproduct of the tree-filled regions, coastline and fresh water bodies in the region. Farmed exports include cashew nuts, black pepper, rice, and rubber. A number of minerals are widely extracted and exported, including the perpetually wanted petroleum and coal. Many manufacturing sectors are now much larger than in previous decades, like food processing, tobacco, and chemicals. Tourism is also quite important, with people hoping to see what the country has to offer. Ancient temples and palaces juxtaposed with a backdrop of jungles and mountains gives a picture quite unlike that anywhere else in the world.
A foundation for more freedom in Vietnam has been set, even if the country still has many problems in terms of human rights concerns in general. The country is unquestionably improving, considering the greater allowance of economic freedom and waning military presence. A large resource stockpile and thriving industries will only further increase prosperity, and pretty scenery and exquisite monuments are absolutely worth seeing and attractive to foreigners. Given these facts, Vietnam represents a great travel destination, and getting Vietnam visas to allow you to visit would be a wonderful idea.
