Silver Penny

I have what appears to be a silver penny. Does anyone know if they exist and is it worth anything?
The date on the penny is 1996. It looks just like any other penny only it’s silver.
It was probably made in a chemistry class in a lab involving zinc and other things. You can make GOLD ones, which look even better. I doubt they’re worth anything, since you can make them in a science class.
