Rare Error

I found a copper bicentennial quarter, valuable?
I dont know if it’s just the top layer melted off, how could i find out?
Or is there any value to it, a rare error or something like that?
If the layer melted off as you say there would be no image on it. If the coin has the copper layer showing with an image on it then it is a so-called error coin. It is however not that rare or scarce. If there is no image then some one damaged the coin after it left the mint. The problem with error coins is they need to be seen for they are easily faked or just damage that was done by some one after it left the mint. No one would pay for one without it be authenticated by a grading service. You need to take it to a couple of coin dealers for their opinion.
