i have a 1977 proof set and the penny has scratches on it Is it worthless?
Are you sure the scratches are on the cent and not on the holder? If the cent is scratched then it has little collector value for the 1977 proof set only sells for $8.95. Dealers paying at least 40% less. Most of the time the scratches are on the plastic and not the coin. Tilt the holder back and forth to try to check that out.
