How many pounds of pressure would it take to break a plastic shatter proof 5 gallon water bottle?

I would guess quite low. Since a 1 foot depth of water has a pressure of about 0.5 psi, the internal pressure in normal use is about zilch.

I would guess 10 or 20 psi. The higher the pressure required to break it, the more energy has to be released without shattering when it does break.

A 5 gallon can is quite large, so even 20 psi would add up to a large total force (several hundred pounds) and the stress in the material of the bottle would be much larger than 20 psi.
