Spain is one of the last kingdoms to survive the present realm of democracy. It has passed through the vortex of time and emerged as a super economy in the European Union of the present day. The Spanish Empire is a legacy of Europe in every aspect of the word.
The Spanish Empire has contributed graciously to the world of art through the gifted hands of the globally applauded Pablo Picasso and also to the world of music through the magical voices of Julio Iglesias and his son the famous Enrique Iglesias. Spain also boasts being the birthplace of the world’s second most spoken language, Epañol or Spanish. Spanish is also the official language of nearly 2 dozen countries in the world. When it comes to the climate Spain has got it all, a Continental climate in the inland, an Oceanic climate in coastal strip and a Mediterranean climate everywhere else.
The Empire of Spain occupies an exquisite location in the whole of Europe and is also the second largest country in the European Union. What we see today as Spain is the result of a kingdom being passed down from the Romans to the Moors to the French and then lastly reaching the gates of a constitutional monarchy. The Spaniards have made their homeland the world’s eighth largest economy and the Europe’s fifth largest. It is also rumored that Spain’s economic development will overtake that of other European countries by 2011, making it an economic super power by then.
After joining the European Union the Spanish Empire bid farewell to its national currency the Peseta and welcomed the Euro in 2002. The Spanish economy has benefited greatly from the global real estate boom in recent times. In the past four decades the Spanish tourism industry has grown with leaps and bound turning it into the world’s second largest. Spain is the most desired country for immigrants of the European Union thanks to its geographical position, unimaginable underground economy and agricultural strength. This is why a little bit of the whole of Europe’s different nationals can be seen in Spain.
