How many ancient civilizations in Peru before the Spanish invasion?
I have read a lot about ancient Egyptian and Rome but not so much about Peru. Was it only Inca or Maya? Did they live in the mountain or in the lowlands and did they exist only in Peru?
The Aztec and Maya civilizations weren’t Peruvian.
The Inca Empire stretched across Peru and large parts of modern day Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile, and encompassed both mountain and lowland regions. There were a number of ancient civilizations that came before them in Peru, both in the lowlands and in the Andes. Some of these are the Chavin culture, the Tiahuanaco culture and the Wari culture.
