How often should you give a Persian cat a bath?
I just got a new persian cat and I was wondering how often you had to brush and give them a bath?

Get a comb – not a brush – for grooming. Brushing can break the long outer coat and does little to remove the loose undercoat. Get a steel toothed comb like this – http://www.petlithographs.com/shopcart3/image_db/small-greyhound-comb.jpg. During shedding season you really need to comb the coat daily. As shedding slows (you’ll know because less and less undercoat will comb out) you can reduce this to every few days.
As for bathing the only time I’ve ever bathed mine was a day or so before a cat show (mine are both rescues and compete as “Household Pets”) Bathing is kind’ve a nightmare as you can’t towel dry their coats since the coat will mat. You need to pat them dry and then blowdry the coat. So if you can avoid it altogether – do. Cats by nature are very clean and bathing is really not that necessary. I only do so before shows so their coats are as soft as possible. But now that I’ve salmon oil to their diet (something you might want to do) I’m not sure they could get any softer – so no more baths
