platinum/catletic converters in older cars? with the price of platinum at 1700/per ounce is any one buying the?
if so who do you contact?
i think you will find that the platinum is tainted due to exhaust gases passing through it.i think the platinum is basically gone from the converter.as i understand it the internal part of the cinverter is lined with a micro thin coating of platinum that is basically eaten away through time with exhasust gas flowing through it which causes that rotten egg gas smell from older cars. i think it would be worth looking into though ,you never know maybe worth your while and noone else has thought of it. good luck
