what does it mean when people say red on a wheat penny READ DESCRIBETION?

1946-D LINCOLN-NGC CERTIFIED MS 66 RED!! BRILLIANT UNC! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

The ‘red’ designation on an uncirculated bronze (copper) coin means that it has full, original mint luster. It is the highest state a penny can be found in. The next highest is red and brown, or RB on the holder, and the lowest is brown, or BN.

This is aside from the grade of the coin. an MS (mint state) 66 is a pretty nice coin. But one that’s MS 66 Brown might be worth less than a red coin two grades lower at MS 64 Red, because red coins are the hardest to find.

Undated (1849) Moran & Clark Pattern $10. Unc Details–Environmental Damage (NGC). Lot: 7562
