is the netherlands and nederland the same place?
I just found a coin and it says nederland 1 G on it. and on the back it says juliana koningin der nederlanden . Im just curious of where it came from. And what is 1 G ? is it like a dollar Canadian or american?
Yes, “The Netherlands” is the English name for our country, “Nederland” is the Dutch (Netherlandish) name for our country.
1G stands for 1 Gulden (Dutch) or 1 Guilder (English)
The Gulden/Guilder was our currency until we got the Euro several years ago and so it was exactly like the US or Canadian Dollar.
The worth back then was most of the time about half a US Dollar.
