Mexican Gold
How common were revolvers/pistols among Mexican-Americans during the California Gold Rush (1849-1855)?

According to Col. John Fremont, the Californios were moderately familiar with firearms, especially in Los Angeles.

It is interesting to note that in San Pasquel California (home of the San Diego Wild Animal Park today), took place one of early battles of the Mexican-American War. And, the Mexican Militia armed with Lances on horseback beat the snot out of the U.S. forces under General Kerney (Kerney Mesa today).
