Lire Coin
Identify Vatican coin?
All I can tell from this coin is that it is from the John Paul I “era” (as short as it was.) And that it is from the Vatican city. I also believe it is a 10 lira coin as it says what looks lie “Dieta” on the bottom of the reverse. The reverse side shows what looks to be a sitting robed man or woman holding a dead or sick unclothed man across their thighs.
Any info is appreciated.
The reverse has the same “piece” on it as those coins, but those aren’t the same as the one I have.
The image is Mary holding the body of Jesus after the crucifixion. It’s called the “Pieta,” a sculpture by Michealangelo.
