Liberia Silver
Can My $20 Coin Be Cashed In At A Bank?

I have a $20 Franklin Roosevelt Republic of Liberia silver piece. Can I trade this for cash at my local bank?
I just need some cash in my pocket ASAP.

At your local bank, no. At a bank in Liberia, maybe, but probably not. Liberia is famous for issuing “coins” to commemorate all sorts of occasions that really have nothing to do with Liberian history, and are never seen in circulation there, but might make the government some money. They’d probably commemorate your girlfriend’s birthday if they thought they could make a buck off it.

Best bet is your local coin shop. Depending on how much silver is in it, you might get more than $20 for it
