Kwan Yin

I Have A Question For Buddhists?
Which Buddhist Goddess is more important in your religion: Kwan Yin or Tara?
Both Guan Yin and Tara are manifestations of the same bodhisattva, Avolakitesvara, who is prominent in Mahayana (including Vajrayana) Buddhism. Guan Yin, [also known as Quan Am (Vietnamese), Kannon (Japanese) Kwan Um (Korean)] is more popular in countries which do not have a strong influence from Vajrayana Buddhism, e.g. Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, Malaysia and those practicing in East-Asian traditions in other places, such as the West. In places with a strong Vajrayana or Tibetan influence, Tara will be more popular (e.g. what used to be Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal etc, and in other places where Tibetan Buddhism is practiced).
Neither of them should be called goddesses, they are in fact saints (bodhisattvas) unless you are talking about the Guan Yin in Chinese folk religion, where Guan Yin may appropriately be called the Goddess of Mercy.
As a Theravada Buddhist, I neither consider Guan Yin nor Tara as being part of the Buddhist religion at all.
