Oreganol – How Can You Use It?
Oreganol is an essential oil extracted from a particular wild species of oregano that’s native to Eurasian and Mediterranean regions. The leaves, which produce the oil needed, are only plucked when oil production is at its peak. What are its uses, I hear you ask? Let’s count the number of oreganol uses, shall we?
Oreganol Uses for Killing Germs
Streptomycin is a type of bactericidal antibiotic and, in fact, the very first antibiotic drug that has been used to treat tuberculosis. Vancomycin, on the other hand, is another type of antiobitic – a glycopeptide drug to be specific – that has been used to treat various infections that are a result of contamination from Gram-positive bacteria.
And lastly there’s penicillin, which many know as the drug created by Alexander Fleming in 1928 and for which he had won the 1945 Nobel Prize in Medicine together with Ernst Chain and Howard Florey. Penicillin was the very first drug used to treat syphilis and Staphylococcus infections. These days, it’s also used to describe a group of substances that have been produced both naturally and organically.
If you’re wondering why these three kinds of drugs are being discussed, it’s because they all possess the same antibacterial properties that enable oil of oregano to kill germs or bacteria that cause infections or diseases such as the aforementioned Staphylococcus.
Oreganol – A Natural Remedy
Oreganol contains thymol – this is the same substance found in Vicks Vaporub, one of the world’s most popular topical treatments. This is the reason that oreganol is so effective in treating and alleviating such ailments as arthritis, muscle pain and dsymenorrhoea.
