How should a golden cocker look like when it is good weight shape?
I just got a golden cocker ( Retriever Cocker spaniel mix) and think hes a tad over weight but not sure. I’ve had other dogs in the past that have been in good shape but not sure how he should look. For our lab you were supposed to see a little bit of his rib and a flat underbelly. Any kind of help would be great. Hes not obese by any means.
There’s an easy test to determine if any dog is overweight. Run your hands along the sides of the rib cage, starting just behing the elbow and applying very slight pressure. You should feel ribs. If you can’t feel them with very slight pressure, your dog is overweight.
