Don’t you think WALL STREET is keeping our dollar LOW on PURPOSE?
I believe our dollar is being kept low on purpose. I was at a FORD dealership in FLA and a guy came in pulling a FIFTH WHEEL on the back of a pickup truck. (I’t's a motor home with the hookup in the bed of a pickup) I ask the guy how far he was going. He said BRUNSWICK,GA,,I said is that home? Oh no he said I’m only delivering this to the PORT there,,it’s going to SPAIN and I gotta get right back and bring another one that’s going to GERMANY. I said how can they do that? He said our PRICES are lower here. And he commented, I do this 8-10 times a month, that’s why they’re keeping the DOLLAR low,,so we can sell all our products OVERSEAS. I said “HOW BOUT THAT”!!
It is true that the free market determines, for the most part, the value of the US dollar. Other factors include other nations purchasing our dollar. China has purchased tons of our money because China pegs its currency to our currency.
The main reason the value of the dollar is low is inevitable result of a trade deficit. Trade deficits are not always a bad thing. The US has been able to sustain its negative trade deficit for so many years because we were selling our fixed assets (allowing foreign nationals to buy our land, common stocks, etc.) to pay for our deficit. We basically mortgaged our homes to pay for our new cars on a macroeconomic level.
Fortunately, one of the good results of a “low” dollar is an increased incentive for the rest of the world to purchase our exports, which is a good thing if we truly are approaching or are in a recession.
