German Occupation? What is a Baumgemeur?
I was looking at my family’s history records and I have one that lived in Germany in the ’40s. It said is occupation was a Baumgemeur. What is that?

Are you sure you read that right? That’s not a German word I have ever heard, and it’s my native language. Google only gives me a few hits, all with very oddly written German-ish words. Like a heavy dialect or maybe Swiss German even? No idea.
Baum is a tree, and “gemeur” sounds like Gemäuer, which is an old word meaning walling or masonry.
edit: Oh, Bauingenieur, lol. The Tree part really threw me off. That’s a civil or construction engineer.
