French And Learning French The Easy Way

French is the first language of over 90 million people. Originating in France, French is spoken by another 190 million as a second language and over 200 million as a foreign language. Most of the French speakers are located in 56 countries. Besides France where the language originated, French is spoken as a native language in Belgium, Canada, Monaco, Francophone Africa and Luxembourg. The roots of the French language lie in Latin. Latin is also the source of such languages as Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Romanian. The French language has been influenced significantly by the Germanic language as well as the Celtic languages. There are 29 countries whose list of official languages includes French. French has been adopted as one of the official languages by the United Nations as well as a number of international organizations. After English German language ranks second amongst language spoken in European Union. French comes third.

The Celtic people, who were also called Gauls, had occupied the modern day France during the ancient period. This was before the Roman conquest of France. The Germanic tribes conquered Western Europe during the third century and later. But it was much later in 1539 that Latin was replaced with French as the official language under the initiative of King Francis I. This was followed by the emergence of classical French during 17th century and 18th century. Later modern French evolved since then till the 20th century. France emerged as one of the most important colonial power during the 17th and 18th centuries spreading its conquest worldwide. Along with this, the French language too spread and established in the colonies. The Americas too came under the sway of France with French establishing as an important language. But soon France declined as a major colonial power giving way to the English which became the dominant language worldwide.

You can learn French the way its native speakers speak. This requires going through a learning course that focus on the functional aspect of the language for effective communication. Formal language courses are offered through formal program where one can sign up and register. But this requires that those who register keep aside the time according to the prescribed time table. But this is not possible for many. They would like to learn the language at their own pace and time. This too is possible and courses are also developed in various languages such as Spanish, Chinese, German, Japanese and French as these are languages in great demand. For French language learning courses you can check out Rocket languages French, Michel Thomas course, Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone.

Learning a new language is an exciting experience. Living with the native speakers and learning by talking to them is the best way to learn the language. You get to know the people too.
