Who is the woman on the 1976 1/2 French Franc?
My mom found a franc in her wallet today, & I thought it was cool so she gave it to me. I was just wondering who the image of the woman on it is supposed to be of. I tried google-ing it, but I just got a bunch of websites where I could buy a franc. And so I thought I’d try yahoo and see if anyone could tell me who it is. It’s a 1976 french 1/2 Franc, & it says “Republique, FranCaise” on the side with the lady on it andon the other side there’s some kind of plant lookin thing and it says “Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite.” And thanks in advance to anyone who can answer my question 
The woman is “Marianne”, not a real person, but a symbol of France that originated in the French Revolution and signifies Freedom (Liberte), Equality (Egalite), and Brotherhood (Fraternite).
