Foreign Germany

American wanting to go to Germany for foreign exchange program for year?
I havn’t taken German at all, but i was thinking I could go over the summer and learn then. The only other language i know is Chinese, and i don’t want to go there for an entire, maybe another summer. Any tips, suggestions, who to get in touch with, what to do? Thanks a lot, will choose best answer!
ah! sorry forgot to say this is for high school! and unfortunately my high school kindly does not have an exchange program
