Can you help me with this problem?
Five pesos are used to buy 100 fruits. One watermelon costs 50 centavos, one apple costs 10 centavos, and one plum costs one centavo. How many pieces of each type of fruit were bought?
w + a + p = 100
.5w + .1a + .01p = 5
This is impossible to solve without more information. You need 3 equations for 3 unknowns.
However, we can still limit the variables’ ranges.
50 < p < 90
0 < a < 49
0 < w < 9
