Child Custody Battles between Famous Hollywood Celebrities
Hollywood is the home of the stars but it is also known for endless fairytale weddings and repulsive divorces soon after. One of the many divorces that shook the public is that of Kevin Federline and pop princess Britney Spears’. Following the divorce papers, the two must fight for the custody of their children named Preston and Jayden James. This is perhaps one of the most troubling child custody battles in the history of Hollywood.
The divorce and the child custody battles of Federline and Spears have been made known to virtually everyone in the planet because of the media. While other battles have been settled peacefully, Spears’ and Federline’s were not. As a matter of fact, it caused quite a stir and made Spear’s popularity plunging down. In October 2007, Spears lost the custody of her two sons over her ex-husband due to alleged addiction on alcohol and drugs. According to Federline, his ex-wife’s drug and alcohol addiction has already put their two son’s safety in jeopardy.
Another celebrity divorce that was feasted by the media is Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger’s. The former couple’s child custody battles over their only daughter Ireland has also made headlines on papers and magazines. Basinger accused her husband Baldwin of being emotionally abusive not only to her but to their child as well. Baldwin on the other hand accused his ex-wife of being mentally unstable. In 2004, the trial court came up with a resolution that both parents have the right to share custody of their child. The only condition imposed by the court is to prohibit any party from discussing the case in public. In 2007, Baldwin defied the court when he said that Ireland is “a thoughtless little pig”. The conversation was leaked from a voice mail and news about the incident has made the headlines on various papers and magazines which prompted the court to give the full custody of the child to Basinger. Baldwin apologized for the action but the court temporarily suspended his visitation rights to Ireland. To further add injury, Baldwin accused his ex-wife of leaking the voicemail, this accusation can never be proved; and this is also another violation of the same order. Alec Baldwin soon apologized in public so his visitation rights were restored.
Various divorce and child custody battles are now being made known to the public, this is inappropriate no matter how interesting they are. Furthermore, it causes more emotional trauma to the children. It is recommended to keep every divorce and custody battle from the media to spare every party from additional and unnecessary pain especially to the kids who did not intend for their parents to be famous.
