Empire Pfennig
I found a 10 Pfennig coin, from the German Empire dating 1917?

I was at my grand fathers house, spending the day with him, and I found a coin. He said I could keep it.

It is in good condition, considering how old it is. You can read it clearly, it says “Deutsches Reich. 10 pfennig. 1917″ on the front, and on the back you can see the coat of arms, easily.
I was wondering, how much is it worth? I don’t want to sale it or anything, I am just curious.

The 1917 German Empire 10 Pfennig was minted on an iron flan or planchet at almost all the German Mints (A, D, E, F, G, J, or no mint mark) at the very end of WW I and is very common. It would be worth $4US if uncirculated; $1.50US in XF-40; $0.60US in VF-20; and $0.20 in F-12, but based upon your description I would put the value near the higher end of this scale. There is a rare zinc variety only minted in Berlin ( “A” mint mark) which would be worth much more, but I do not have values for it. I am not even sure where the mint mark is located, but I believe it is below the coat of arms. You might try taking the coin to a local coin expert or two for an evaluation. I hope that helps.
