Czech Lion
The Lion Symbol on the Gryffindor plate in Harry Potter.?

What does the Lion symbolize? I have been seeing it everywhere, first Harry Potter, then I went to Hottopic and saw a Team Edward Backpack with that symbol, the Czech Republic has it on its flag, and I just noticed that this old necklace I have has it to. WTF???? What is it?

The reason the Czech Republic has it on it’s flag is because the lion (to the Czech) symbolizes fierceness and independence.

In Harry Potter it’s symbolizing Godric Gryffindor. The ancient founder of Hogwarts and of the Gryffindor house. To him it symbolized strength, bravery, and physical cunning.

The Lion was on the Team Edward Backpack because in the book Twilight it is established that Edward’s preferred animal blood is that of a mountain lion. Therefor it is representing him on the backpack.

I don’t know why it is on your necklace. One would deduce perhaps that it was given to you by someone who thinks you are brave, strong, fierce, or a vampire… Most likely one of the first three. :)

Hope that helps!
