Cover Stamps
Postage question? Can I use several first class stamps to cover postage cost?
I have a package to post which fits into the “large letter” category.
I had some “large letter” stamps which I recall were around 50p each, but I have run out at the moment. I do have a book of first class stamps though. Could I just plaster 2 or 3 first class stamps on it? It would save me trying to squeeze a trip to the post office into my lunch hour, and I have a whole book of first class stamps which I have no plans for anytime soon.
Would they still deliver it?
Yes, you can add as many stamps on to a letter as long as the value adds up to the cost for posting it.
In this case a 1st class stamp is 36p so adding to will allow you to post a letter with postage up to 76p worth – which covers large 2nd class (42p) and large 1st class (52p).
If you want you can use 52 penny stamps – if you can lick that many!!
