Scenic Sightseeing In Lanzarote – Vistors Attractions

Lanzarote has earned a reputation as a package holiday destination over the years but increasingly more and more independent travellers are discovering the island.  Drawn by wonderful weather, more affordable flights, accommodation and scenery that really is out of this world.  There are lots of natural wonders to explore here.  Most of which were created by large scale volcanic activity which hit the island in the early 18th century.

Tourists have been flocking to the fourth largest of the Canary Islands ever since the package holiday industry first took off in the 1970´s.  And Lanzarote continues to attract millions of visitors today.  Many of whom like nothing more than basking in the sun, which shines all year round here.  This prompts plenty of visitors away from  their Lanzarote apartments behind for at least a days exploring and touring.

Landscapes, water sports, culture and history. Lanzarote boasts a plethora of activities for a wide range of age groups so it is little wonder than visitors can return year after year and still have a unique holiday experience.

Typical places and activities on many people agendas include:

Rancho Texas; As the name suggests the park is westerned themed with tepees and wagons the kids will enjoy going in and climbing over. There are a number of shows through out the day including tame parrots, falconry and perhaps the most frightening of all crocodile wrestling. The host does pick out the smallest of the bunch so it is not too much of a challenge compared to the antics of crocodile wrestlers in Florida but the crowd enjoys the show which is the main thing. or maybe Jameos Del Agua: Jameos Del Agua was one of the first in a series of natural architectural art landscaping by the islands famed Cesar Manrique. Manrique took a couple of collapsed caves along with a complete one an transformed them into a natural below ground water garden encompassing restaurant set in the stone surrounding, a lake and even a dance floor. Visitors can also visit the nearby “Cuevas de los Verdes” whilst in the area.

If these are not to your taste you could also try The Cesar Manrique Foundation; It is difficult to put into words the feelings that walking around Cesar Manriques former home brings, but it is easy to get a sense of the simplicity and blend of nature and architecture that were the foundations of Manriques works. The way that he transformed the volcanic bubbles into rooms exemplifies this and it is surprising to see a tree as the central focal point of Manriques symbiosis with nature.
