Centenary Scouts
Is Baden Powell considered to be a touchstone in an era of sensitivity towards young people ?
August 2007 the Scout Association celebrate their centenary Poole Dorset England – Baden Powell set up pulling together his military experience and Edwardian Wisdom to help young people to contribute to an opportunity to better themselves and society creating a new cutural experience through adventure and international friendship with an ethos of good citizenship and recognised that young people are an integral part in creating a healthy and sustainable future – the message is about stewardship seeking to find common threads to learn with compassion and guidance youngsters strengthen their commitment to their values – there is the need for acceptance and understanding when they make mistakes it is because they are learning all people have the same feelings whether they are two or ninety-two and there are lessons to teach and gifts to share where diffrences are celebrated . In an era of sensitivity towards young people is this presumption reactionary and unfashionable ?
No Badens Powell’s work is just as relevant today as it ever was. He was a great man.
