Is this good for sophomore year?
I’m going to be a sophomore in high school this year. I go to a private school so I always feel pressured to do really well. I’m taking:
1. Honors English
2. Honors Functions (Algebra 2/Trig)
3. Chemistry
4. French 2
5. Art History/20th Cent. History/Composition (required 10th grade courses, they switch each trimester)
6. Intro to Drawing/Intro to Painting/Comparative World Religions (electives, change each trimester)
My extracurriculars are:
1. VIBE (cultural awareness)
2. Newspaper (my 2 friends and I are the founders of it)
3. Interact (world affairs)
Sports:
1. Varsity Volleyball
2. Varsity Tennis
I made Second Honor Roll (A/B) each trimester last year (I had all A’s and 1 B in Physics). I’m going to try really hard this year to get all A’s and make First Honor Roll. I also got an award for placing in the top % on the French National Exam. Is this good so far? Will this help me get into a good college? I want to go to UVA, UNC or Duke.
I am going to be a junior and I took Honors English, Algebra 3-4 (2), Honors Chemistry, and French 2 and I was fine. I made high honor roll. Don’t worry about it, because if you do, you won’t do as well. Chemistry is hard, so if you start to not get it, you should ask right away, because it is very easy to slip behind. Getting that award is fabulous! You should be very proud of yourself. That will look good on college transcripts! Just keep doing what you are doing and I am sure that you will get into the college of your dreams!
