All About Oxford

Oxford is one the oldest towns in britain. It is home to a couple of significant institutions in the world, University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University, catering learners from various countries. Today, the City Of Dreaming Spires is a prosperous metropolitan that embraces its ancient, academic, and contemporary facets together.

Brief History

The Saxons established a village named “Oxenfordia” in 900AD that was later reduced to Oxford. The town had been of great importance by the period of Norman attack. Amongst the oldest castles had been built here by a Norman baron; a part of the building is currently among the famous hotels in Oxford. The oldest English-speaking university in the world, the University of Oxford was established in 1167. The university constantly sustained the economy of the town as a significant amount of goods and solutions were being allocated for the huge influx of students.  

Throughout the succeeding centuries, Oxford had been a steady manufacturing center. The very first coffee shop in Britain was established in the town in 1651. In the 19th century after the terrible plague, Oxford continued to be a prosperous market community. Innovative commercial undertakings started in the twentieth century with the establishment of the Morris Motor Company and the Pressed Steel Fisher, all in all recruiting 20,000 workers.  
    

Tourism

Oxford hotels remain to receive various guests who are fascinated by the city’s archaic charm.
