Bolivares Coin
Coin worth?
My husband’s grandmother gave him a Simon Bolivar 1972 coin. It is very large, but I am not sure what it is made out of. I know nothing about coins, but my husband wanted me to see if it was worth anything. Can anyone help?
The coinage of Venezuela that uses Simon Bolivar on it and Bolivar is a denomination, is very sporadic. I however can find no listing for a coin dated 1972. There are several large coins dated 1973. So you need to check the date. Now Mr. bolivar was a hero to other South American countries and they may have made a commemorative coin. There are however a lot of countries in South America and I do not have the time to go through them all, also by the time I did your question would be several days old. If you can let me know what is exactly on both sides, word for word it would make it much easier. A scan or photo (sharp one) would be nice. This is the best I can do.
