Bar Kochba

Do you think the Anti- Judiasm that happened with early Christianity was the defeat of Israel?
The Roman Empire had taken on the rituals of Judaism until Israel was destroyed-The Jewish Temple was destroyed in 70 CE by the Romans under Titus. Then Israel was totally destroyed as a nation with the defeat of bar Kochba (a false Messiah) in 135 CE.
Hundreds of thousands of Jews were massacred. Most of the survivors were dispersed into the Gamut (Diaspora or Exile), many of who were sold into slavery. The final utter defeat of Israel was seen by many Gentile Christians as a sign that Israel was rejected by her God.
The Gentile Christian Church was celebrating the Jewish Passover
until that defeat…
Since all the Apostles were Jews the Gnostics spell out they did not know how to preach to Gentiles on how to have a religion other than Judasim and that Jesus the Christ the Jewish Messiah was the reedemer of the world for eternal salvation…
This is what some say is the Anti-Semitism that penetrated the catholic church was spelled out in the Council of Nicea.
No.
The defeat of Israel was due to them trying to revolt against the Roman Empire. Which in turn was due to the forcing of censuses, the forcing of recognition of the divinity of the Emperor, taxation etc.
The Romans could not have cared less about the Jews and their religion, as long as they conformed to the rules of the Empire. But that “No other God but me” and “No graven images” commandments, along with the “God hates a census” rule lead to tensions and then revolt.
This made the Jesus cult very popular amongst Jews at the time, as he was going to come back in their lifetimes and kick out the Romans and become King of the Jews and King of the world. Real soon now.
The anti-Semitic nature of the Catholic church comes from the Pauline rewrite of doctrine to blame the Jews for Jesus’ death, when the story clearly says it was the Romans who killed him in a Roman fashion. However, if you are trying to convert Roman gentiles that looks bad, and stitching up the Jews is an easy out.
It does not help that Catholics thought money was bad. Jews did not, so the Jews became the bankers and money lenders. While the Catholics did not want those evil material things and money, I’m sure that the Jews having them put a few Christian noses out of joint.
