Question for people familiar with immigration in Thailand?
What do you know about immigration rules in Thailand for marriage to a Thai girl?
I could gather from this website http://www.asiatradingonline.com/visas.htm
some 400,000 Baht in bank account and/or 45,000 baht per month as a mandatory requirement.
1) But from what I know somebody who is on a “tourist visa” (Visa on arrival) is “not permitted” to open a bank account in Thailand. Do they consider foreign bank account statements for this purpose?
2) How long does it take to complete marriage visa formalities in Thailand? 30 days VOA is sufficient?
3) Is it “compulsary” for that person emigrating to Thailand to become a Thai citizen? What if he only wants to have a residency permit for 4-5 years and retain his “original passport”?
4) After acquiring marriage visa, what are the “formalities” for re-entry in Thailand if he returns to home country for some time and/or travels to another country?
marriage to a Thai girl and visa for long stay are two different issues, I don’t know where your from but you need to check with your embassy in Thailand for the processes. So to apply for the long stay visa for support you need to first be married. You would need to submit for a type O visa check with the Thai embassy in your country for the required forms. It is true you can’t open an account here on a visa on arrival. When you apply for the O visa you need to show that you have the income or saving in your country. Then your need to transfer from your home country to your bank in Thailand the savings or show income of 45,000 baht. It only takes a few days to get the visa. I think you need to check the web site of the country your from just Goggle it. To leave and come back on your Visa you need to complete a Re-entry permit form at immigrations and pay the fee, so you don’t lose your visa.
