Dynamics AX as International Corporate ERP
Such issues as translation to the foreign language and especially supporting local country business related legislation created substantial hurdles for popular American coded accounting packages. For example, the fact, that Dynamics GP is only localized in some English, Spanish and Arabic speaking countries restricts your ability to deploy it as worldwide Corporate ERP solution. In the case of Dynamics AX or formerly known as Axapta – international boundaries are open and this ERP solution is translated to major foreign languages and is localized in such countries as Brazil, China, Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Mexico, UK, Continental Europe. There are several popular theories about Corporate ERP localization and we believe that AX is in the radars and compliant. Let’s take a look at AX in some details:
1. Flexibility. In fact this ERP, MRP and accounting package implementation is typically associated with customization project. Software development for Axapta is recommended in tradition tool MorphX X++. New version 2012 opens additional doors to CLR Microsoft Visual Studio C#, VB developers. In our opinion these options should demonstrate their maturity (especially in version upgrades)
2. Translation to foreign languages. AX supports Unicode characters and by doing so it is open to be translated to virtually all the worldwide known languages. Unicode was a vehicle to enable such hieroglyph based languages as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese
3. FRx versus Microsoft Management Reporter. Currently we are coming through transition period, where MBS is discontinuing its support to FRx (traditional financial reporting tool for consolidated Balance Sheet, P&L, Statement of Cash Flow). And of course you may expect that real world is not ideal and you need consulting help in walking away from FRx to Microsoft Management Reporting
4. Hub and Spokes theory. If you are working for multinational company and you feel that AX is too expensive to be implemented overseas, this theory is probably worth to be reviewed. If you are recognizing your case, we do recommend you to research Corporate ERP brands localized in your targeted country. Good example would be SAP Business One. This small and mid-size business ERP is supported virtually worldwide by SAP (currently it is not available in Arabic by known historical reasons)
5. Brazil in focus. Both AX and Sap B1 are localized and very popular on the Corporate ERP market in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. If you are in the mode to acquire foreign subsidiary, chances are high that your future facility deploys popular accounting application Microsiga
6. Focus on Russian Federation. Here we would like to emphasize very strong and enforced business and tax related legislation. Leading packages in RF are 1S Bukhgalteria, Navision, Dynamics AX, SAP Business One. Please note that Russia is not just Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan or Novosibirsk. For multinational corporations penetrations to Russia might be related to Siberia, Far East, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Mongolia, Tuva
7. Altai and Tuva. These regions are not really on radars, however they host the large amount of asbestos, gold and silver mines. AX is known to automate process manufacturing, helpful in mining industry
